Empowering women while encouraging energy efficiency:
"Kopernik is a non-profit organization headquartered in Indonesia that distributes low-cost technologies to recipients in less-developed countries using crowdfunding." More than 500 women in Eastern Indonesia are now getting the chance to become entrepreneurs by distributing clean energy products to rural households with the help of Kopernik. These items include: solar lights, water filters, and fuel-efficient biomass cookstoves.
How does it all work?
On consignment, Kopernik sends the products to the assigned kiosk owner. Once the kiosk owners sell the technologies they repay Kopernik minus their margin with which they can order more products.
Kopernik also supports these women to become tech agents. These agents sell door-to-door in their communities or at community events.
