Green Exploration: Rockford

Downtown Rockford, IL with Green Exploration: Rockford logo

Purpose: Creating Connection

The purpose of this podcast is to gather information to raise awareness regarding the various environmental issues afflicting Rockford and exploring how inclusive, green infrastructure, in addition to other sustainable and nature-based solutions, can offer viable solutions to these problems. Diving deeper, I am exploring how these environmental issues affect the BIPOC communities within the region to see if there is inequity regarding environmental quality and protection. To do so, this research podcast consists of a series of discussions regarding these issues with environmental and municipal leaders throughout the Rockford region.

I would first like to thank my research advisor, Dr. Elizabeth Kocs, for guiding me during the creation of this project, providing ample support through the entire process. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to work with her, as I have learned, and continue to learn, so much from her insight.

I would also like to thank all who took the time to participate, as you made this podcast possible. (Note: Although this podcast was intended to interview a more diverse demographic of guests, participation was limited to whomever responded with interest. Audio quality was also limited during the creation of this podcast, due to the capabilities of Zoom, since these interviews were conducted remotely in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.)

I would finally like to thank all my friends and family who have supported me throughout the creation of this podcast. I love and appreciate each and every one of you.
